Tongue Dance Project

Known for innovation in the realm of extreme physicality and athleticism, Tongue Dance Project was formed in 2014 by Stephanie Gilliland and Lauren Smith as a vehicle for choreographic exploration and artistic development in contemporary dance.

Logo design (2023)

This design is a re-imagining of the original logo: a simple logotype using the “incorrectly” italicized Impact font. The choice to force italicize Impact goes against the grain in true Tongue fashion.

In the 2023 redesign, the silhouettes of two dancers mid-air were added to the logotype. The silhouettes are pulled from photography shot in the Los Angles days of TDP; an ode to the roots of Tongue and a nod to forward motion for the company.
